It's been a while since I've been online. My parents were here for a week starting last Friday and just headed back to MN this morning. It was nice to see them since it'd been about 18 months since I'd really seen them last but I must say that is was SO nice to have them leave again. Mom and I actually got along fairly well for a change. She didn't push my buttons and make me cry like she usually does. Well, she tried pushing my buttons once but I am a stronger Sashi than I used to be and I did not back down. I also stayed calm during the one little blow up we did have.
See, my mom has this whole i-only-do-for-others-so-pity-me-while-i-make-you-feel-5-inches-tall attitude with me (which you would find quite funny if you knew her... even her best friend called her narcissistic to her face). Because I did not take her side during one of her many rants.... no, let me rephrase... because I kept silent (because I disagreed with her) instead of agreeing with her, she went into this whole thing about how no one cares about her or respects her. I told her that that was a bunch of BS and if it'd help, I would say, "Yes, Mom. I agree with everything you just said" as a response to every little thing she complained about.
Okay, maybe not the healthiest choice of things to say but... damn, it felt good standing up to her for a change.
It worked, too. When her complaining got excessive, I said it and she shut right up. She eventually stopped complaining as much as she usually does and I think we all had a better weekend because of it.
I also got to FINALLY check out Little 5 Points this past weekend. I felt like pulling up a spot next to one of the homeless guys and saying "Home... now...."
Oh! And I got magenta lowlights in my hair last weekend, too! I've never had funky colors before and I love it! I'm trying to get my husband to take pics for me since my phone cam doesn't seem to pick up the colors too well.
Here's one bad pic from my phone cam:

Yay!
