I got ahold of a tliPhone. This is a WiFi enabled wireless IP phone. This specific tliPhone is provided free of charge to le Sans Fil. This includes phone service and, I presume, unlimited long distance and all that.
Now, I'm supposed to test the device and make sure it works. I'll be doing that over christmas. When I configure everything so it works, I'll post the phone number here, I'm curious what it's like to use.
le Sans Fil had there first ever xmas party at Zeke's. It was great fun, we had a little award ceremony. Since this year has seen the technical side of ISF making strides and the social side kind of limping along, the tech team got gifts, a speech (hilarious) and recognition by (admittedly quite drunk) peers. Ben, the tech lead got a dog collar and Phil, Pascal (who wasn't there) and I got a a black leather studded bracelet. Weird awards, eh? Our software is called "The WiFi Guard Dog Captive Portal" or wifidog and so that's why we looked like a BDSM convention ;-).
BTW, the ISF xmas party was open bar and we went through 210 beers, w00t! (a bunch of us split the remaining 30 beers, I've still got two in the fridge.)
