So I'm starting to do a training ride at least every other day. Right now, 10-12km @ 25kph average. Favoring mild hills. I think I need a different cassette, I got a corn cob (11-21) and it makes hill a real effort.

My commuter bike has been stolen. I have good hopes of seeing it again since it was a kind of frankenbike (carbon fork instead of suspension, road casette, screwed up geometry.)

Still, I was locked next to busy doors at a medical research center where you had to go well out of your way to be there in the first place.

Very annoying.

er:
not cold pasta leftovers. raw refrigerator pasta, the kind you buy raw that only takes 5 minutes to cook cause it's not all dried up.
sqook:
Damn, that fucking sucks, man. I know how much time you put into that bike (or was that your other one?); sorry to hear about that.

Bike Crash

Some idiot clipped me while getting in his driveway today.

I was going 30km/h (22mph).

He was on the left side of the lane, waiting for the traffic on the opposite direction to stop before turning. He had no blinkers on. He was turning right!

He never looked front and right or he would've seen me.

He hit my left shin. The bike...

Oh no! frown Well I'm glad you're alright with only minor injuries! I hope that asshat is suffering with guilt at running away from a problem he created. I mean, even if it WASN'T his fault, it's very nasty and irresponsible to not stop and make sure everything is ok... and give you time to memorizr his plates mad

And re my entry, tahnks, and yes, I'm super happy with my new found single life smile

Canada Day.

I'm off.

There's a thunderstorm out there.
shal:
I miss rain. Especially thunderstorms. smile

Yeah, we have a 10-disk RAID array sitting on our living room floor right now because one drive is bad and we can't figure out which one, but that drive being bad means the entire array is useless.

The problem with the website turned out to be a simple Apache config thing and was fixed in like 2 minutes, but still.

I should be doing something "productive" or at least something. It's saturday.

I've read the GoogleFS paper this week. This was quite interesting. Not sure what will come of it. I have a feeling it will affect the way I program at the very least. I've already started taking another look at some work I've done previously.

Yea that's repulsive.... pure sugar and colour.. nothing of value at all. It doesn't even taste good to me.

I do crave bubbly drinks sometimes though. Usually I full the bubble void with beer, heh, but when alcohol should be avoided (class, for example wink ), carbonated fruit juice is awesome! Congrats on giving up the coke!

alright, but for the first time ever, your vote is worth something, even if you vote for a party that has little chance of getting elected. $1.75 to be exact. so vote for who you feel best represents you and your ideas.

I'm busy. Generally doing good.

I'm in shit shape though. I can't cycle worth a damn. Almost as bad as the same period last year. I need to do something about it. Winded after only 11k, I can't climb the Mont-Royal. ( It took me 20-25 minutes from parc & mt-royal to go up and down last august, more like 15 on a good day.)

I am back from SG Canada East Prom in Toronto.

I am tired.

Much fun was had.

I'd like to thank Cathedra for the ride ;-).

As for everyone else, well, it was great ;-).

Edit: Oh and thanks to Paradogmatic for taking care of all the small things like, say, getting an Hotel room ;-).

Well, I'm driving there today, staying overnight, and then we're both coming back to NY tomorrow. I'm sorry I missed Prom and seeing you there!! frown No fair.
mya22:
Well it'd be hard to meet today cuz I'm not really coming for a visit - I'm not showing up till later today anyway. But... we could totally get together the next time I visit for a couple days! biggrin I don't even know where McGill is, but I'm sure gw could direct me.

Hmm, busy busy busy.

So I've been working as a sys admin again for what, two full weeks? Of course I was overdue for my first Virii epidemia. I thought it was bad in homogenous corporate environments. It's downright horrible in free for all academic settings.

I hear you. It seemed like without fail, every new virus or worm would somehow destroy our entire internal network.

tomorrow, I'll know if I have a job as sys admin for a research project.

Awesome... -crosess fingers-. Let us know how it pans out.

The meeting last night went rather well. I rewrote a good chunk of the software this morning to use a completely different architecture. I am K-Rad 31337 C0d3R d00d ;-)

In the words of my favorite internet troll:

I am elite, give me warez d00dz!

They both have it, although Dungeon has a rope play area too.
captainhaggis:
You're going to have fun with that MIT code. Not only does it require two kernel modules, but its userland portion is written in c++ so you're going to have to add this to your flash:
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 744472 Apr 1 19:43 /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.5.0.5

Oh, and the userland portion is the core, the kernel modules are just for mapping skb's into and out of kernel space.

Yeah, dude. Also, beware of code that documents the configuration language in BNF syntax. :-P
