Well, I'm now trying to revive my calculus. It's been dead for too long for CPR to work, but I think I can maange a bit of necromancy and get me some Zombified math skillz!

I'm bored.

What shall I do? I'm falling into my work rut. I get progressively less active. Normally, by winter time, I program on a regular basis on some pet project that will be ditched after 3-4 weeks.

I'm restless.

I can neither relax nor figure out what I'm itching to do.

I've also been single for way too long.

I need to empty my...

I managed to get my disk drive working:

1) Set jumper so drive is self-terminating.
2) Get the trusty Adaptec 29160 into a PC.
3) Use a single-ended external scsi cable to hook drive to external port of scsi hba.
4) Use a regular HD power connector from inside case.
5) Burn a bootable ISO of OpenBSD.
6) Reflash the goddamn BIOS cause my password...

Thanks for the nanonews, dude!

Holy crap, you did all that without any formal comp education? That;'s pretty amazing! :eek"

ACV.CA and NORTHERNHACKING.ORG, my personal domains are no more until I can find a new server and a new hosting deal.

The old box blew a power supply (on the motherboard) today and the fire from that seemed to have damaged the HD.
manchester_black:
I always think its funny at how nonchalant computer people are about things like fires and blown power supplies... if you had a non technically minded boss, you could totally use things like that to get out of work if you played the severity up.
rosalyn:
Wow, that's almost enough money to pay for 2 semesters of tuition. wink Hah, yea I have a feeling I'll slurge and buy all new nice things as soon as I can afford it. But 'course I'll be poor for the first little while on my own, while I'm still in school. I'm pretty sure I'll be able to take a lot of furniture from my mother's house when I move... but yea, new stuff would be nice! You're right about getting a roommate or two, I'm going to need to do that. Rent is pretty expensive here... apparently moreso than Montreal (lucky you!) but a lot less than Toronto.

What types of sites were those? Well, the second I can guess. tongue

Well well well, the horrible week I was looking forward too has just been postponed indefinately for "sometime later in the fall."

Yay.

This week will be hell.

Mildly until Wednesday and then rapidly downhill from there. By friday, I'll most likely want to kill myself ;-).

Okay, I might be pessimistic, but the last time around, it wasn't a sinecure...

At least this time, my own ass is not directly on the line. I'm just a supporting cast member, or so I hope.
rosalyn:
Oh my, what's going on?

About moving out. my hope is that I'll have enugh money saved (err... maybe...) and coming in that I can move out right before next summer, and support myself though the summer of work (co-op) and the fall semester. then I'll be done and need to get a job asap. tongue

I have moved.

My new place is huge and empty (all my furnitures used to be in this one tiny bedroom and I haven't got more, yet.

I got my new appliances, did my first grocery, my phone/internet worked on moving day (thanks for having your shit together, Bel.l)

I can't seem to run out of little things I have to buy. You know, like...

2 days before I move.

I bought some boxes. I need to pack. Where do I pack my porn collection and miscellany toys when:

(a) 4 people will help me move;

(b) I really don't have that much stuff to move;

(c) My mom will insist on unpacking as much stuff as possible;

(d) I really don't know how to explain S&M paraphernalia to my...

I actually don't have to do a thesis for my masters because I'm in the phd program. We just get our masters automatically along the way when we've completed so much coursework. biggrin

I signed my lease last Monday. I'm moving the 28th. I bought my appliances. I can't wait to be out of here.

I gotta start making boxes... I hate that, I end up never unpacking them.

you know, i sorta like the blurriness. like the dog just leaped out of nowhere to get into the frame. which isn't all that far from the truth.

i was actually practicing my manual focusing skills that day. can't say i was all that sucessful, but it was good to get back in the mf swing of things.

how'd option b turn out for him? and what country did he go to?

I may have over stretched myself today. I figure I'd try to do 60km @ 25kph average. I ended up doing 85.9 km @ 24.5kph average. My legs are shot. I can barely walk.

Up to now, I thought I knew what cyclist meant by "pain" before. I think it's when there's still 10+ km to go and your legs want a divorce...
