Oh so very tired. I've averaged about 5 hours of sleep/night for about 2 months now. You'd think with all the time off I've had this week I could catch up, but you would be wrong. Without fail I seem unable to sleep beyond 10am. Oh well, its cheaper than drugs...
I had a fucking blast exploring the city night. I love how clean the city looks when it snows. That is until everyone gets back to driving and it looks twice as dirty. For some reason people seem friendlier too, I know that I become less of an asshole.
I keep thinking about Steve Bechler. Eventhough there probably aren't enough baseball fans on this site to field a team, I'm sure most of you have heard about him by now. He was a young pitcher for the Baltimore Orioles who dies of heat stroke during spring training back on Monday. His life was just falling into place, getting to live out my (and millions of others) boyhood dream of playing pro ball, freshly married with his first child due in a few months, then BAM! If you're not lucky enough to die in your sleep after living a very full life, dying doing what you love would be the way to go, at least he got that.
Then I think of my brother Steve. He's a Marine and is about to get shipped off to the Middle East. He and his wife found out last week they are expecting thier 3rd child in October, then the next day he got his orders. Fortunately he's a Major so hopefully he won't have to get too close to the action, but anything can happen. Assuming things don't go horribly wrong, he'll only be there 6 months so he'll be back in time to be their for Robin. Also, Robin's family lives about a mile from where Steve is stationed (Hawaii), so even if he gets stuck their, she'll have her family to help out. I called him the other day on the phone and after we talked about the O's, movies, my band, the war, etc. for 30 minutes I finally told him I loved him. I've never had to tell someone that thinking that it might be the last chance to do so. Fucking frightening.
