So I completely forgot about paying rent this month. After the busiest month of my life at work and all the holiday goings-on, it pretty much just slipped my mind.
I was sitting around hanging out with the folks on their back porch when I thought "OH SHIT!" I managed to get the check out to the landlord yesterday, sending it priority mail, including a letter explaining what a dumbass I was for forgetting to pay my rent. Today he called and left a message on my machine telling me how impressed he was by my letter, and that he wouldn't charge me any late fees. Whew... that's the 2nd time I've flirted with eviction and walked away unscathed. By the way, I don't recommend trying it.

Same thing happened to me once. It was the only time I'd ever been late, so I wasn't fined. My landlady Loved me.
