so, we have not washed away. we celebrated irene by gathering up a group of interesting people on our huge front porch and drinking ill-advised amounts of hurricanes. being a whiskey drinker, i've never had one before.
we had a great time, nobody minded the rain blowing sideways at points.
the kids made themselves shirley temples, and we fed a jew bacon. he said it was very liberating, and we all cheered.
the next morning, irene seemed to have handled us lightly, and then my son ran let us know he had a leak in the ceiling of his room. the problem is the roof is a full story above the leak...for all that it wasn't too bad.
we drove around and watched the flooding. the power of the water is awesome.
