Wow, gluing plastic windows onto pizza boxes sounds like a thrill a minute! 
But I guess it's a job, right? And you don't sound like too miserable a person for it.
I always had all these expectations for myself that I would do something great. Be a mathematician in a think tank somewhere, or something. I still could do something great, this is just a break. But lately I've been thinking more about simpler things that would make me happy, like baking for example, or working at Powell's or something. There's no reason we can't be happy anywhere.
And to answer your other question, it's goin' okay. I'm feeling pretty good about things, now that it's all happening. I think it's going to be really good.

If you don't care about getting a degree, you could take whatever you want. Sadly, getting a degree requires taking stupid general requirements. You should totally go study in Russia, and in Rome, and anywhere else! Fun! I really regret not taking advantage of the math in Budapest program.
