The universe and existence itself needs to follow certain laws to work. Planets are destined to circle suns, suns are destined to burn out, etc. Within this frame work is where free will resides. For example: Perhaps one was destined to meet another, It is then a choice of what to do next. The most brillant scientific minds can only say; we are here because we are here. The question of why the universe is here and why we exist are the eternal questions that only ask and never answer.
