On Tuesday 19 November I came home from work as usual and went back out6.30 pm and popped in to see mum in the lounge room watching television. She wqas happy watching it.
When I came home just on 10pm I noticed that the lounge light on with the television going. It wasn't unsual mum watching television that hour and thought nothing of it. As soon as Sherilyn and I enetered the kitchen, Sherilyn went into the lounge room and found mum on the floor half sitting looking like she was trying to get up. Her leg was twisted.
Rushed inside the lounge and Sherilyn called the ambulance.
The look in mums eyes and she could not talk, I thought she was in shock. I tried to calm her down, telling her to breath but it seemed like she frozed in time.
2 ambulances arrived and took mum to the hospital. Sherilyn and I were both in emergency waiting room and we could see her. It looked that she could only move one side of her and her right side she couldn't move. The doctors were going to give her injection try to reverse the effects of the stroke what had to be administered within 4 hours. They didn't.
It looked like she was improving the doctors were saying, managing to move her right side hand, leg but couldn't talk.
They took mum to the stroke ward and it was a little after 2.30am thursday morning.
I received a call in the morning saying if we could go into the ward and it wasn't looking good. I managed to call my 2 sisters and they arrived as soon as they can.
The specalist said that mum had a massive stroke and with the MRI scans there was major bleeding in the brain. Mum will not recover and we will make her confortable as possible. Instead of weeks it would be a matter of days.
There was me, Sherilyn and my 2 sisters. My 2 sisters don't get along with each other and I'm not really that close to them. The middle sister. I do not get along with after years ago I asked her to help me but she went cold to me. She think she is the best. You know some families get, i'm one of those families.
I received a phone call Friday morning saying that mum passed away. All of us were in the same room as mum. A few hours passed then my middle sister said clean up the place and sell it. My other sister asked me what I think we should do and what would mum want. I said I think mum would want it in the family.
Catherine left and started to go inside the house even without waiting for us. I was and still living there with all my things there. That didn't didn't stop her going through things.
This was like this until Tuesday night when they stopped. My sisters didn't even do the funeral enquiries until late Tuesday and without telling me anything. I'm the last one to know.
I've been left out and just found out about the funeral today. Funeral is Friday.
My neighbours can't believe what's happened and they said that they haven't really seen a lot of my sisters around. Is it normal for family come out of the woodwork when there is a death?
I was a carer for mum and dad. When dad passed away, my sisters never visited, maybe once from Catherine but I was there everyday, only day I didn't go I called him on the phone, next day he passed away.
All I can say I did my best.
I was a carer for mum and dad. I sacrificed my work, career, person life and now have to deal with my sisters. They were not close to mum, last time my middle sister was 3-4 weeks ago and only for 15-20 minutes. Before than would have only been over a month.
Now i'm afraid I will not have privacy. a courtesy call or sms would be nice. Doesn't look like.
