'there's gonna be peace in the valley tomorrow,
'cause tonight she's gonna blow it all away.
lord, she feels so twisted, ain't never gonna fix it.
she's just waitin' on the light to shine on a brand new day.'
yeah, so yesterday just wasn't really that great of a day, to tell the troof. got a call from the ex mid-day asking me to go with him to pick up the dog from the vet's. i said yes. 'cause i'm a decent friend, i like to think, and 'cause i love that damn dog.
we talked some about why we broke up on the drive up to ft. collins, which was actually really good for both of us. we were both pretty distracted with other things, so it wasn't a terribly emotional conversation. just kind of nailing down reality. a good talk to have had.
and, sadly, kashmir (his greyhound - guess how we met?) does have bone cancer in both back legs. so, all that's really left to us in terms of options is pain management (for the dog and for us) to make his last few months as good as possible.
we cried some. we talked about options some. then we watched big brother and amazing race and aqua teen hunger force and a little ali g and the simpsons. can you say, 'therapy?' i only dozed off three or four times on the couch (in the lazy boy, in the computer room) before admitting defeat and heading home where i promptly lied there for hours alternately crying and staring at the ceiling.
so, on a slightly lighter note, i may have just inherited some free tix to see kenny rogers tonight
and, as always, for you local folks, we are doing Casa Bonita on next monday, the 12th. come one, come all. check either the SGCO group or the hook-up board or pester me or slimjim for details.
