okay, okay, okay, i'm totally behind and totally lame. sorry everybody! love me anyway?
okay - what did i miss... um... tuesday night! plea for peace tour at the ogden. okay, so prob one of my least favorite venues in town, but damn if the show wasn't just fucking awesome! met captknutz there, luckily ran into the lovely aoife again. and cursive was spectacular. very very good. i was more impressed with tim's voice live than i expected to be... sort of reminded me of a young robert smith, actually, the way he was using it. speaking of - the cure will be here end of the summer, but i keep missing the details on it - somebody update me wouldya? much thanks. the big big surprise for me at the show tuesday was saul williams - spoken word poet. absolutely amazingly powerful and beautiful. if he's ever in your area, drop whatever you're doing to see him speak, and if you happen to be in a bookstore, pick up his newest , said the shotgun to the head and flip through it. he's powerful. i had really forgotten the sheer intensity of one lone voice in passion. wow.
wednesday night was relatively low-key. hit a neighborhood bar in an attempt to give aoife a proper sendoff. damn, i already miss that girl. :sigh:
'aoife has left the building.'
last night my sorry ass went home and slept. 'cause i had to. slept from 6 'til about 9:30. woke up just long enough to talk to my man, eat a twice baked cheddar potato, and go back to bed. it was ideal, really.
and, because everyone else has had the worst possible experiences lately with them, i have to share my good sprint customer service experience. not too long ago, i called to shift my plan so that my night and weekend minutes would start at 7 ('cause, ahem, i've been talking a lot with someone on the east coast lately, so it seemed a little more fair). well, they took my wireless web off accidentally when they switched my minutes, so... my bill was over $400. ouch. no fuckin way. i email, he says to call customer service. i do. i'm on the phone for less than 20 min and it's all taken care of. they put my wireless web plan back on, credited me the additional costs that i shouldn't have incurred, and even credited me some additional for my time and trouble. just thought they oughta get props for doing something right for a change.
okay, now that i've gotten y'all mostly caught up on what i've been too lame to update on... i can tell you what's happening now. right this very second.
the countdown has officially reached one week. he will be here one week from today. it's funny but i'm actually calm about it this second. i wasn't last night, lol, but i'm doing okay right now... just focusing on tasks - getting the house clean, need a mani and pedi, wanna get my hair done, making sure i've got clean sheets, that kind of thing. wow. one fucking week.
okay.
upcoming events:
friday, 21 may (tonight): eight bucks experiment, my absolute favorite local punk band (and not just 'cause i went to school with one of 'em), is having a cd release at the gothic. its $5, it's all ages, it's 8bx and blister 66, w/ scars of tomorrow, remembering never, and my friend betrayal. elijah, i'll catch up with you later tonight about details. somewhat_damaged, it doesn't look like i'll be able to get comps this time, but i will buy you a coke if you can make it. any other CO folks who are free should really come out for the show - 8bx, as seen in SLC Punk, is an awesome old school live punk show.
saturday, 22 may: couple of different options - i've not made up my mind yet, actually.
drag the river is doing a free show at the bluebird with king rat and denver joe. i've been wantin to see drag the river for a while, and it's free, so...
but also, radio 1190 (boulder's college station) is puttin on a $7 show that includes munly and lee lewis harlots, tarmints, and the swayback at the gothic. so, that's pretty damn tempting, too. if you have a preference, just let me know, and i'll meet ya there, k?
finally, tomorrow night, ferris bueller's day off is the midnight at the mayan
i'll be tryin to take things a little slower next week to rest up
and get ready, but i'll still do my best to keep you folks entertained. promise.
