'all i do is dream of you
the whole night through,
with the dawn i still go on
dreaming of you.'
concrete blonde show last night was absolutely amazing. just glorious. got there in good time to get all the way up front (close enough to see the bow on her bra
. the opening band was devotchka, a great local band that's sort or reminiscent of Karl Zero, sort of reminiscent of talking heads - but good.
johnette came out and talked to us a little between the opener and the actual show. this show was apparently a sort of warm-up/trial run type thing for a summer tour they're planning - if it makes it your way, don't miss is. this was the most i've paid for a show in a long time ($25) and more than worth it. the stuff off the new album is really good, and johnette's voice live. WOW.
the crowd was really diverse, which i always like to see. a wide age range. of course, a number of goths, but not exclusively goths. lots of girls, of course. which apparently meant lots of boys who didn't know any better. grr. i went with a friend from work that i adore and don't get to spend near enough time with - so that was good. mind you, she also happens to be a gorgeous blonde, so between her and my shirt (i just went comfy - overalls and a black babydoll that read: 'i have the pussy so i make the rules.'). i guess i shouldn't be too surprised we drew a bit of attention, but... so be it. some drunk boy wanted to buy my shirt. yeah right. wonder what he woulda said if i'd worn the one that says 'my dick is bigger than yours.'
random weirdness. the boy i'm no longer dating called last night right before the show to say he hoped i had a good time and to ask if he could call me today. er, sure. huh?
i had mentioned in my journal yesterday that i was feelin a little melancholy, and cause of some other afternoon commitments i didn't get much time with you know who. well, i don't think i need to tell you if you've listened, but... concrete blonde can be some heavy duty emotional stuff. i was really worn out when i got home. we talked about partying some more after, but i really just wasn't up to it. luckily for me, i had someone to come home to. thanks for waiting up for me, baby.
would've thought to sleep in this morning, but wide awake at 8:30. whatever... lol. went ahead and got up, made cheese grits for breakfast (yum!) and settled in to watch 'singin' in the rain.' damn, that movie makes me smile. donald o'connor.
alright, too much housework to do to just sit here starin' at pretty nekkid girls all day. catch y'all later!
upcoming events:
saturday, 15 may (tonight): you'll find me at the larimer lounge checking out reno divorce, a bomb local band that you can't and shouldn't resist... rowdy, rockin', and an all around good time.
tuesday, 18 may: the plea for peace tour will be coming through at the ogden. headlining will be cursive - fresh from coachella... worth the $14. i'm not all that into emo, but they do it really well
friday, 21 may: eight bucks experiment, my absolute favorite local punk band (and not just 'cause i went to school with one of 'em), is having a cd release at the gothic. its $5, it's all ages, it's 8bx and blister 66, w/ scars of tomorrow, remembering never, and my friend betrayal. elijah and somewhat_damaged, i expect to see you boys out there, for sure.

Kick ass about concrete blonde. I haven't seen a good concert since I was in Jax last. and YAY for cleaning. it always makes me feel better when I do it. I'm a neat freak, but I'm also lazy
Those two things don't mesh well together.
