haven't been on much these days. Between work and Dr. appts., life has been hectic.

Hope you are all doing well.

I went to six flags for Fright Fest. It was lame and the lines were ridiculous but I did get to ride Kingda Ka the world's fasted and tallest roller coaster. It was a rush!

countdown to surgery, freaking out a bit. duh!

SPOILERS! (Click to view)

Surgery will consist of a unilateral mastectomy (boob removal) with immediate reconstruction. I wll have a tissue expander placed behind my chest muscle that will be filled over time in order to create a "pocket" for an implant. This expansion process takes about 6 months. Then I will have that removed and replaced with an actual implant. Because my boobs are small, I will be going up (because damn I might as well get something fun out of this) and I will get an implant in the other side to match. If all goes well, I won't need radiation. I will be on a hormone therapy that is supposed to decrease chances of recurrance significantly. I will take this for 5 years. I hope this will be the end of cancer for me. It's worrisome because having breast cancer at such a young age puts me at a great risk for it to come back in worse ways. That blows but the reality is, a long life is NEVER guaranteed right? We just pretend it is.

This has been a struggle for me but I will say this, I appreciate life like I never have before. I appreciate each moment and do see beauty all around me. I feel a bit disconnected from most people my age but I feel more connected to other survivors.

i will fight for myself and others till the very end!

smooches.

Be strong! I know you can beat this!

I've been writing breast cancer stories for the paper and it's amazing how..well...amazing so many of these women are. It's really inspiring.
