HAPPY 5TH OF NOVEMBER!!

Words offer the means to meaning, and for those who will listen, the enunciation of truth. And the truth is, there is something terribly wrong with this country, isn't there? Cruelty and injustice, intolerance and oppression. And where once you had the freedom to object, think, and speak as you saw fit, you now have censors and systems of surveillence coercing...

A short summary of what the Stone Tape Theory is.

Makes it a little less scary than the idea of a 'ghost' being an dead, but 'existing' person.

thanks. no i'm not religious at all. i'm what my mother calls a "militant agnostic." you seem like the kind of guy that can appreciate this. most people just look at me really confused. it's not the virgin mary. it's saint mary magdalene. the parton saint of prositutes, wanton women and reformed sinners. in my younger and more impressionable years, i did a lot of fucked up shit. i was on a ton of drugs and in a very abusive relationship. i was hurting all the people i really care about and watching the rest of the people i really cared about die off one by one. i took a look at things and decided that this wasn't where i wanted to be. i sobered up, told the asshole to go to hell, burried my friends and got my life back together. i got her because of what she symbolizes. redemption and turing things around. when i see her she reminds me of where i can from and where i never want to go back to.

that and sg."wanton women" i found it fitting.
saeta:
just the general feel of your journals. you seem like the type of person that can understand the significance of things and not just look at me and go, "whatever. i don't get it."

i'm glad you knew who it was. most people automaticly assume its mary. and i have to say no in catholic art almost every saint has a trademark of sorts. st. francis always has animals, usually birds. magdalene usually is holding a pitcher of some kind or an egg. which i think has some kind of weird pagan fertility tie in or something. but maybe that's just me.

i love catholic art. there is a store up the street from here that sells these 6ft hand painted statues of the virgin. i want one, but they're $300. i grew up episcolpalian, which is pretty much catholic only a lot more laid back.

Ah, of course. You're going to bore me to death with Robert Heinlein, then?

You fiend!!!
zarth:
Aauuggh! Just like his books!

I read The Forever War long before I picked up Starship Troopers. When I was on to the second chapter of the latter, I realized he wasn't being at all ironic, skipped to the end just to make certain, and then I set it down and never picked it up again.

Heinlein was an interesting, very progressive guy in a lot of ways. Not so much in others. I just can't take the preachy libertarians, you know?

Well, what can i say?.....
i'm still alive....

I've been trying to explore more of Toronto......but a mixture of not knowing anything about it, and my friends having so many 'suprise' dinners for me, has kept that to a minimum.

This past weekend was hilariously fun times though. I won't go through it all....cause you had to have been there...but there was A LOT of...

Ok.....
Sorry it took me so long....but i have a dibilitating disease....it's called laziness....

Plus, re-settling in a new city and catching up with friends you haven't seen in seven years, is apparently a big deal, and very time consuming.......who knew?!

Things have been going really well in Toronto. It's very windy... but i like the city a lot, and i'm pretty much still discovering...

Glad you're enjoying Toronto, it's my home town. (*slight glow*) I'm even coming home for a month, too, weird cowinkie dink. Anyway, you should check her space out if you're back there, it's cool, if I do say so. wink

Of course, it would have been hilarious (at your expense) if 'he' had turned out to be a really hot chick. smile

But I doubt that ever happens.

I think it's something younger people are guilty of, and I was exactly the same when I was younger, but people really get it into their head that their opinion means everything. I have no problem with those with strong opinions who wield them in a intelligent way or use them to challenge the opinions of others, but with something so subjective as physical appearance there is never ever a right or wrong and being a nay-sayer on such things when it is unprompted really winds me up.

I feel very out of body these days.
I'm very self-aware. Like i'm experiencing life from the 3rd person.
Its a very surreal reaction to living in a new city.

But then again, it may just have something to do with the fact that my diet right now, consists mainly of plain Boca spicy chik'n patties and gummie worms.

Other than that...Queen Fawaz and i...

That's a bit... forward. God, I'd have been worried he was a stalker or out to get me. Perhaps that's the paranoid part of me speaking, but there's no way I would have gone to meet him.

Of course, maybe that's how regular sociable folks meet people. I don't know. confused

Are you still in Toronto?

I often wonder the same about myself. tongue

I'm very socially inept, though, so that's probably the whole problem.
