I hope everyone is having a lovely holiday season!

I just got back in town last night after a brief visit with my family. I brought back plenty of tamales and cookies and happy memories of the whole family spending Christmas Eve in the kitchen, cooking together. There is something so sweet and lovely about watching my father and maternal grandmother sitting at the kitchen table, chatting and shredding the meat for the tamales. And my mother was amazing, as always. She was like an orchestra conductor, moving between the counter where the chile was being prepared, the stove, the kitchen island where I was making cookies, and the table to help my dad and grandma. My family can really drive me nuts, and I often feel like I don't fit in, but I still consider myself very lucky to have them.



I plan on resuming my running tonight, too. It should be interesting. I haven't actually run on the streets of Hollywood before. I trained on treadmills and Griffith Park since my move. Tonight I'll be dodging tourists, spiderman, and all the other characters that frequent my neighborhood. It should be fun.
