Next year for the TX Ren Faire I'm going to get as many people together as I can to dress as crew members on my fictional smuggler cutter 'La Chance de l'Ange' a French designed American Colonial built cutter.
The premise is that during several weekends of Faire we're in port and spending our hard earned smuggling money at the local festival.
I'll need a couple officers (should be fairly well dressed in period pirate/sailor outfits... tending toward richer merchant or lower class noble). Some older salty sailors who would be dressed however they like from rich to poor... as everyone on the ship gets equal shares. And some younger greenhorns who wouldn't need too much in the way of fine costuming as they haven't made the same riches the rest of us have yet.
But this is all a guideline of course... since everyone on the ship gets equal shares whatever they wear so long as it fits in 17th century sailor styles would be fine.
My persona will be Captain Laurey Michael Sullivan, the grandson of the famous Pirate Liam O'Sullibahn. Raised in the Caribbean at his grandfather's pirate haven port on the Isle of Youth... who used his grandfather's treasure to have the Angel's Luck (the previously mentioned smuggler ship) built in one of the first shipyards in Boston. He's a jovial fellow with a romanticized view of the world and it's oceans and has only the barest hint of Irish accent left.
The crew is a tight knit band of men and women from around the world, yes he allows female crew members.
So if anyone is interested in gearing up for next year's big faire... and perhaps other smaller faires if I can fine them... let me know.
