One thing I find difficult about serving is trying not to bother people too much and refraining from jumping into their conversations...lol. I enjoy bartending so much more because you have a much better opportunity to have conversations with people. There were a group of people at my table today and they all had computer print outs of the American film institutes top 100 movies...

Carved my pumpkin tonight! I always try and carve something that represents the year and my hopes to come. Halloween or Samhain is the celtic/wiccan new year so I try to portray my dreams for the coming days on my pumpkin. I carved a hand reaching up surrounded by stars, sort of reaching for the stars. I was actually thinking of a phrase I learned...

My friend wants me to move to texas with her. She is supposed to be getting a five bedroom house there with her fiance. I know zero about texas. All I know is it's full of cowboys and that's where George "dubbya" was from. Which is reason enough to not like it...lol. I really don't want my son to have to change schools again too....

First, allow me to dispel the myth that everyone in Texas is a "Cowboy." While it's true that we love our Pickup Trucks and SUVs, hardly anyone actually owns, or even rides horses. The thing about Texas is that's it's WAY TOO BIG to be generalized. Where you live really has a lot more to do with the people you meet and the culture you experience than just some general stereotyping of the state.

General things I can tell you, Texas is politically RED!! There are a few pockets of Democrats here and there, but the state is predominately CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICAN! We have a Republican Governor, Lt. Governor, and State Legislature. Both our Senators are Republicans and we have the largest contingent of Republican Congressmen in the U.S. House of Representatives! This is a very conservative state with strong moral and ethical objections to the Federal Government interfering or attempting to interject itself into our business. Texas was once an Independent Republic, which is why we are the ONLY state allowed to fly our flag at the same height as the American flag, and the U.S. asked us to join them...not the other way around! If Texas was an Independent Republic again, we would have the 8th largest economy in the world!!

Texas has NO INCOME TAX and never will, but we are among the most financially secure states in the country and currently one of only 3 or 4 states that's not operating in the Red!! Our state budgets are balanced and we have Billions of dollars in reserve. We also have one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country!

Texans are uncomplicated people. We love our freedom, sports teams, and guns!! That's right, just about everyone in Texas is packing heat, which is probably why we have one of the lowest violent crime rates in the country. It's just a really bad idea to break into most Texas homes, unless you just WANT to die!! There's that, and the fact that we have the largest prison system in the world, so if you do the crime, we have a place for you to do the time!! Beyond prison, we have the DEATH PENALTY in Texas and we aren't afraid to use it! Texas leads the entire country (By a BUNCH) in sending bad guys to the afterlife!!

Don't get me wrong, Texas is an AWESOME state full of wonderful, amazing people, but Texans are not inclined to put up with too much B/S!! We defeated Santa Anna and the Mexican Army for our independence and no Union troops ever held ground in Texas during the entire war of Northern Aggression!!

If you're truly worried about moving to Texas because the state is too conservative, I'd say you have quite a delima on your hands, because Ohio is on the verge of joining the GOP ranks a week from this coming Tuesday, and that's a fact!! So, you might as well come to Texas where you can get a job and not pay state income tax, or have to worry about crime, or worry about the state being able to pay it's bills. Truth is, everything's better in Texas!! If you have any specific questions about any specific area of Texas, just ask? I'm like the "Music Man," I've been everywhere!!

In my (admittedly limited) experience, Texans are mostly completely full of shit, especially the ones who brag about what a great place Texas is!

I am completely miserable. frown frown frown I have been having a bunch of issues with my one cat. He kept peeing all over the carpet. I took him to the vet cuz I thought he had a urinary tract infection. The vet did some tests on him and said he didn't. She said it was due to stress and to try getting another litter box because I...
