Holy crap! I finally finished " Anna Karenina" . It took me forever to read it it was long as hell. I have difficulty with the russian authors i think. All the russian names and surnames can get very confusing. I have a hard time remembering who is who. They call someone by their real name and then a nickname and i'm like wait a minute...is that this girl or that girl....siiiigh. I had the same problem with "crime and punishment". I was sort of overall a bit disappointed with the ending of the book. If you haven't read the book and plan on it you may not wanna read this part.>>>>>>>>>>

The whole book, well most of it was about anna and her love and loss and then she just throws herself under the train?? What the hell was that? And then they just talk about how wicked she was. I see a recurring theme here with this in these old novels. Women leaves conventional marriage where she is miserable, finds love lust and excitement, and then suffers a miserable and bitter end. "Anna karenina" Tolstoy, "Madam Bovary" Gustauv Flaubert, "the awakening" by Kate chopin. I guess they were trying to warn people of the wages of sin or what have you back then......sheeeesh. I am puzzling over how levin tied in to the story as well. I suppose his spiritual awakening led to his renewed life but anna fixation on herself and alleged immoral behavior led to her death? Is that what he was going for? I dunno. These Russians...I tell ya. Has anyone else read this book other than me? I must discuss.
