I am a nut about halloween and I always try and think up interesting and unique costumes. I usually make most of it myself unless I am feeling exceptionally lazy. Last year I was a dark masquerade ball go-er, inspired by edgar allen poe's "Mask of the red death". I was Diana of the hunt one year, Lady Luck, The queen of hearts, "a bad influence" (which was a great fricking costume) so this year I was trying to think up something new. I wanted to be a fox originally I was going to be Mrs. Fox from Fantastic Mr Fox but I couldn't find the right mask I wanted. I found a lot of cool fox masks on etsy though and I found one labeled "kitsune". Which I looked up and it is a sort of japanese fox spirit, often a messenger of the deity Inari. Powerful Kitusune or those over 100 years old have nine tails. I thought this mask I bought would we good for this and I would make myself a nine tail set up. I work at a japanese restaurant so i thought this would be cool. Does anyone know more about "Kitsune". I was unsure of whether dressing up as this would be offensive to my japanese boss. I wasn't sure if this is something sacred of something. Input would be appreciated. Mask below.
