There was a time....and certainly not all that long ago in the whole scope of things.....when having an adventure, was not that hard to do. Now, I'm not talking about taking a vacation for a few days and coming back with pictures of swimming with dolphins in a giant pool somewhere...I"m talking about true, seat of that pants, sometimes perilous adventures.
My Dad was a pretty amazing guy and he had a few true adventures of his own. Most of them were when he was between the ages of 15 and 30....from about 1935 - 1950. I always thought some ot the stories he told, were mostly tall tales, until I started meeting a few of the people that were involved in these adventures of his....I soon found out that all of the fantastic, sometimes unbelievable things in his stories were actually true. I know for a fact, that he always looked back on his adventures with true pride and a satisfaction that only comes from one who has experienced and survived some of these things.
It's harder to have adventures these days....at least the way and the kind that my Dad had. At the age of 46, I'm feeling the need for some adventure in my life.....though I doubt that I'll ever have the kind of satisfaction and pride that my Dad took away with him for the rest of his life.
