I'm probably going to be gone away from home from mid morning to late afternoon on Friday. I have some time right now, so I thought i'd go ahead and do Friday's journal entry tonight.
There was a thread tonight in the Lifestyle board, about cowboys....it wasn't really very complimentary....
But, it made me think of a few cowboys who were great role models for young boys....like I was once....and how no matter how corny or hoakie they might seem now, how their actions and they example they set had to have had some influence on all those little cowpokes who looked up to them. The greatest of them all and a personal hero of mine was this guy....
For anyone who doesn't know, this is Roy Rogers and his horse Trigger. Roy & Trigger did a lot of good in their day. Roy was "King of the Cowboys". His German Shepard dog was named Bullet. His beautiful, fiery, spunky gal and then later his wife, was Dale Evans. Roy and Dale starred in countless B&W movies and a TV series of their own. Roy was probably the greatest of the singing cowboys in my opinion. Roy and Dale went through alot of tragedy in their personal lives....but alwasy kept their faith and good spirits about them. You can call me an idiot, corny, hoakie, sentimental or whatever....I don't care.....Roy Rogers was a great man and role model....he will always be a hero of mine....
We need more men like Roy Rogers in our world today...
Rest In Peace Roy Rogers and Dale Evans
