Taking some checks to the bank today.....a reward for a job well done....it's a pretty good feeling. 
I took a walk through the yard yesterday afternoon, as it turned out to be a not so bad day. I found out that I've got a lot of cleaning up to do this spring. The ice that covered everything for a couple of weeks, right after the first of the year, put a lot of small tree limbs and branches on the ground. It's probably going to take me a couple of days to get it all cleaned up, once the weather gets nice outside. I'm anxious for some nice warm days, so that I can get at it. I need to do some tree trimming this spring anyway, so I guess the old chainsaw and lopers will be getting a work out.
I cannot describe in words how anxious I am for it to warm up and for things to start greening up. Baby calves are beginning to show up in the pastures....a sure sign that spring is almost here.
I had been a bit of a lazy bum on the topic of shaving, this past week. Dad always taught us to shave everyday, no matter what we would be doing and I pretty much adhere to that teaching. But, once in a while, I take off on a protest streak and let the whiskers grow a bit. Shaving every morning, can be such a drag....especially when your standing in front of the sink, with your eyes only half open anyway. So, I decided to let it go for a few days.....just as a luxury I could give to myself. I had to shave this morning.....a week had gone by and the whiskers were to the point where they start to get little itchy and it was a little irratating on my face when laying on my pillow at night. So, this morning the old sink was full of a weeks worth of growth and the skin on my face feels nice and smooth after not being irritated by a razor being dragged across it, every day for a week..

I got your e-mail and want to take the time to really respond to everything, but I wanted to let you know that i was really happy to receive it and will write you one back really soon.
Tomorrow is the huge day at work. We are opeing the huge giant "branch office" and things will be nuts! I have been trying to be so good and "talk the talk" and be "team player" and a good boss, yadda yadda yadda, but this morning I slept through a hugely important meeting! Augh! I ran in late, drenched from the rain, still in my night shirt ( I just threw on jeans and glasses) and ran smack into my new boss. A coworker came up, just as I was burbling my apologies to my boss and she made it worse by saying, "Where were you, Rose? We were all wondering where the hell you were!" When I said the thunderstorm must have made my power flicker and the clock was blinking this morning, she said, "Oh, that is why I have a battery backup in my alarm clock, just for things like that". She wasn't being mean, honestly, she was just being chatty and kindof "country" but it just made things worse.
Everything will be better tomorrow. Today was just kindof hard. That phone call felt like a slap on the face. Its sad, when a father has to chose between his new wife and his kids. It is extra sad when I have always thought he hung the moon.
