Fog formed slowly last night. As the south wind brought the thermometer up a few degrees the moisture in the air began to condense and over a period of about 6 hours it formed itself into a swirling mass that headlights could only penetrate for a few feet, making driving the slickened backroads of the county at 3am a treachorous feat. Finally, at home and in bed at 4am, my eyes burning from staring and straining to see into the dense etherial abyss and my mind finally beginning to uncoil itself from concentrating on my surroundings, location, controlling the throttle and corrective inputs into the steering wheel when the car started to slide, I was able to drift off into a couple hours of sleep. We have a very techinical term that we use for the road conditions that we experienced last night....we call it being "slicker than snot."
Country style pork ribs were on the dinner table menu today....a baked potato and side salad, with loads of ranch dressing rounded out the meal time fare. Dessert was a generous sized oatmeal raisin cookie. I had a certain feeling of genuine satisfaction when I left the kitchen after dinner, that can only come from a really good meal.
Popcorn later tonight, along with an adult beverage.....sitting in my big, soft, comfy leather chair, content in the fact that I have now where to go tonight.....as the treachorous and ominous fog once again begins to form just outside my windows.
