i love compliments, really i do.
but still, when someone tells me i'm beautiful i have to wonder what they see or if they simply use such terms frivolously.
because i've only glimpsed beauty in myself on a few occasions. when i was caught in a moment of glee. because everyone is beautiful when they laugh. or held safe in someone's arms. because everyone is beautiful when they're lost in love.
but otherwise, what i see is
"cute"
on a very good day.
but beautiful...
well beauty is something different
beauty is when you look up at ominous threatening-to-storm clouds and realize the vastness of the universe.
or when colors not usually seen in the skyscape, like hot pink and violet, make a fleeting appearance as the sun sets.
beauty is the serenity of the ocean and how it makes you feel at peace with absolutely everything.
beauty is a poem or a painting or a song that has the power to truly inspire anyone.
and beauty is when i look at some of the women here and think "can such perfection really exist?"
but me?
