as i woke up this morning, i became aware that i had been biting down, hard, on my tongue for what could have been hours. but in my half-asleep state i couldn't stop myself. i could only take note of the sensation. the pain was centered inside one taste bud, strained to its limits. the pain response became flavor: it tasted like i was sucking on a blood popsicle. it was a cool, dull pain, with overtones of iron and saliva. then, in a haze of dreamy synaesthesia, the flavor became visual. a tunnel of shifting greyscale blinded my vision. i accelerated through the tunnel, or, the tunnel accelerated around me. either way, i had no awareness of my body except my tongue. the acceleration continued faster and faster until the awareness of the tunnel and the awareness of my tongue became one, and the shifting colors, flavor of blood, and dull pain, also became one. as my mind attempted to understand and reduce the connections between the sensations, i immediately awoke. this dream stuck in my head all day, and now that i have written it down, i can discard this memory. thanks for reading.

You're welcome.

I've only read Sheldrake's "Dogs who Know when their Owners are Coming Home," thus far, but I went to his website (sheldrake.org) and listened to all the interviews and lectures there. He's an amazingly articulate fellow, and he makes the mainstream scientists with whom he debates sound silly and envious. We need more people like him.
