what is wrong with music today?
i just finished watching 2 hours of mtv, and now i'm depressed. what is wrong with popular music right now? it's really, really bad. it's never been this bad. i remember what pop music was like in the 80s and even the 90s, and it was never as bad as it is now.
rock is dead right now. on its death bed. spitting, drooling, wishing for the lethal injection. even the metal bands look, dress, and act like boy bands, with their fresh faces and spikey hair. and they look so hopeful so excited to star in THEIR VERY OWN MUSIC VIDEO! wow.
meanwhile they're getting raped by the proverbial fat man lighting a cigar with 100s. it's so unbelievably depressing.
and all the songs are about the same thing: getting dumped by a girl. well, cry me a river. guess what - we've all been dumped. and worse: we've all written the same cheesy poetry about how we're all phoenixes rising up from the ashes or how she/he meant so much to me but (something something about being in a pit of darkness) and (blah blah) nothing really matters etc etc, but YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO SHOW IT TO OTHER PEOPLE let alone coax your skinny white friend to whine his anemic falsetto behind highly compressed studio guitar and drum machine with barely-audible washed out record scratching just so you can package your skater nu metal punk band as edgy. ARGGGHHH!!!!!!!!

Current music is too testosterone fuelled. I don't mean that in an anti male way.. I just feel like, most of the music that has been revolutionary has been androgynous in some way; it has transcended gender.. and current "alt" music is just so male orientated. Its geared towards teenage boys.
