Maybe I missed the boat on this one.
Maybe I totally need to re-read it.
But, in my opinion, Catcher in the Rye was just some teenager bitching about life, pretending to have amazing insight that the rest of us don't have. If I wanted that, I'd re-read my diaries from 10th grade.
And usually I'm the first to catch deep meaning in books like that. I LOVE coming of age stories. But not this one...
Looking For Alaska, for instance, is my favorite book of all time.
The Perks of Being a Wallflower- I love it!

If you like coming of age you need to read Body and Soul by Frank Conroy. Please read it.
