chefdaddy:
Amy Sedaris has a great book on party dos and don'ts.
yarl:
Roman Holiday is my favorite Audrey Hepburn movie. The bitter ending just makes me feel like true love.

You have a right to experiment with your life. You will make mistakes. And they are right too. No, I think there was too rigid a pattern. You came out of an education and are supposed to know your vocation. Your vocation is fixed, and maybe ten years later you find you are not a teacher anymore or youre not a painter anymore. It may...

I missed the first post... but the lovely Ms Nin always has something wise to say, when she relaxes on the self analysis a bit.

Change is almost inevitably for the best, eh?

Blah. I can't sleep. It's nearing two in the morning and I'm not tired at all. I'm thinking of finally finishing up Serenissima<3 and writing some more. I've taken on this weird writing style for a novel where I tackle random chapters without knowing HOW they will fall into place, just having faith that they will because they're all about this one character.

I once played Fuck and run at a fall festival at the small christian college in Kansas where I went. We didn't stop to think that we would be playing to grandparents and families. We lost the crowd for a while. Screw em. I want all the stupid old shit, letters and sodas.

I have this new love of Erica Jong books. I love her essays and memoir style writing more than I love any of her other stuff, BUT I do love her fiction books, as well. Because of her, the door has opened to me reading Anais Nin, Henry Miller and Colette. I never would've thought to have read these books except she kept talking...

Would you move to Kuwait for five years if you had a chance to?
Why or why not?

Have you been there? What was it like?

_pax_:
No, I wouldn't move to Kuwait for any amount of money...ok, maybe if it was a lot of money, but under NO other circumstances. I have been to Kuwait on my way into and out of Iraq and it sucks. It's like living in an oven filled with sand. :-I

My brother spent a a while over there. If you have to be in the gulf go to Bahrain. Some one told him that "the eyes of Allah can't see Bahrain" so more things go there. Like a repressed Vegas.
