I spent last weekend in the wildlife refuge and I have great pics of real live buffalos not behind a fence, oh no, right outside of the cabin. Unfortunately I cant figure out how to stick my pics onto my journal. I'll try to figure it out later. Before we went out there the wildlife/forestry people made us watch these videos, it reminded me of drivers ed, of gruesome post buffalo attacks and repeatidly stressed that at this time of year the females with calves, which may or may not be visable, are extremely aggressive and wont hesitate to rip your ass to shreds (as demonstrated by the video) btw they can run up to 60 mph for two fucking days at a time and they can jump (just in case you were thinking of climbing a tree) up to 10 feet high and are also very intelligent and can organize their entire pack/family unit into an attack against you. Needless to say once we actually got out there I was terrified but the buffalo were very nice and mostly just ignored us. We did get picked on by a raccoon who aparently really likes marshmallows but we had been instructed not to feed anything and shown a stiff little praire dog corpse as an example of the damage done by visiters feeding the animals. Of course we fed the raccoon anyway. Hopefully later I'll get my pics up and everyone can see the buffalo.
