Traitor -

As far as I know there wasn't much press about this film (at least not here in Denver) so I went into this movie with not much information. I really love doing this with movies because one never knows what they're going to get into, and it makes it hard to predict where the twists are and what their going to be. So with that said let's do a break down of the movie.

Don Cheadle's performance was outstanding to say the least. In the back of my head I felt like his characters heart wasn't in what he was doing and you could tell from the start that there was some sort of internal struggle. He really sold that character; in fact I don't recall a film where Don Cheadle wasn't doing a spectacular job in his work. If the only thing I knew about this movie was that Don Cheadle was in it as the leading role it would have been enough for me.

But there was Guy Pearce as well and that clinched the movie for me, the two of them together was a display of perfection. Although Pearce's character was a bit transparent, it was played in a way that made the character likeable. Unlike Neal McDonough's character whom we could have done with less of not to say that McDonough's acting wasn't up to par with Pearce or Cheadle, in fact he did a great job. But we've seen this character from McDonough before and to me its feeling a bit tired.

The story was well executed and kept the audience (or at least me) interest the whole way through. While it was a slow movie with sparse action it was mildly suspenseful. The cinematography was well done and beautiful with good lighting and dialogue. The ending left me with a feeling of intrigue as to what would happen next in the life of the two main characters.

Would I recommend this movie to everyone? No, but I would recommend it to most. So if you're a fan of Cheadle or Pearce, you like thought provoking dramas that are topical and you have an open mind then go and see this movie, if you don't then you should probably stay away.
