Did some backpacking upstate this past weekend. The snow was so high we were hiking on top of it. More than a few times I went through and sank up to my thigh. We managed to find a lot of wood considering digging through 5 feet of snow to get it. I brought up some marinaded steaks that were cooked over the fire. It was fucking cold, though. My sleeping bag didn't keep me very warm. It's a legit 0 degree bag but for some reason my feet were freezing all night. As soon as I saw daylight I just got up and made a fire. First trip of 2010 was success.
