Today was the big day to see Local H. And it started out completely for shit!
I overslept and was late for my midterm. While I did finish it all, I also got back my paper for the class...a C-. Shit...
Harassed by a homeless man claiming I had money (no I didn't).
When I got home, I got a message from 3 of the people who I was supposed to go to the show with. They cancelled on me. Shit...I was out $30.
So three bad points already....crap...
When we got up on the north side, we stopped at the McDonalds. Turns out the show was sold out and some people were scrambling to get tickets. Some guy bought the three extra I had $50...a $20 profit!!!
While my friends were eating, I walked outside of the McDonalds. There, I met a girl who was also going to the show. Cute, nice, and friendly, we saw each other and we started talking about the show we were going to see, and she loved my Metroid shirt. Unfortunately, she had to leave for the show, but I would see her there...and see her get kicked out of there for body surfing.
The show itself was fucking awesome. It was my first time in a mosh pit, I really didn't get my ass kicked. However, I almost broke my glasses, but luckily I didn't and continued moshing with the girl until she got kicked out. Scott quoted a bit of "I'm Rick James, bitch!" from Chappelle show, covered Neil Young a bit (though he didn't do Nirvana...but that is ok), and gave a nice little speech:
"Man, it is great to be back here even if I had hard times here. I got kicked out of the Smartbar. The guy from Disturbed wanting to kick my ass. Liz Phair wanting to fuck me. And Billy Corgan wanting to fuck me."
At show, you had a bit of the Sox/Cubs rivalry going there, but a lot of it was in good fun.
After the show, I met up her outside, and we exchanged phone numbers. I really have been not too great in the meeting of people aspect, and today was a major kick start to my confidence...especially since she was hot. There is a chance that might be the last time I see her, but hey, I am just proud of myself that I was able to do that. But then again, you never know.
And my friends were supportive of my attempts and waited up for me, so I didn't have to worry about them ditching me as well.
All in all, despite the shitty start, this was one of the best days I had in a very long time. I am extremely content with everything right now.
