Okay so I got back the other day from hunting for a new home before school this fall. I found a HOUSE for 600 a month (wow) It is 5 minutes from school in great condition I still can't believe I found it.
It has everything a pourch three bed rooms a atic,living room,dining room,kitchen and even a breakfast nook. The basement is my favorite though it is HUGE and has built in shelving and a work station from the 40's. There is a big ass garage too with a bad ass yard with a oak tree with a tire swing on it... I have to furnish it but there are thift stores and good wills all over as well as antique stores to go too. And I get a whole month to fuck with the place before school starts YESSSSSS
I'm so happy right now I need someone to slap me to let me know I'm not dreaming...
Not everything in my life is going as smooth but today I feel GOOD

I had an awesome place in Pittsburgh when I lived there, too! Okay, not as great or big as yours sounds, but for me it was perfect, and CHEAP!!! It's a far cry from housing here in NYC...
