oh my god. the site that i keep my main journal on is down, permanently. all data was lost in a massive drive failure.

i didn't have copies as this site was my private journal site, the one where i kept updates on how i was medically, serious life issues, etc. that i didn't want someone accidentally being able to come across on my computer.

i went there just now to journal about something seriously bothering me right now and it was no longer there... just an information piece on what happened to it. so on top of the thing that was bothering me, i've now the fact that several years of my most private and important logs are gone.

sounds silly to some, i'm sure, but this wasn't a journal like i keep here or on livejournal or such... this is more like finding your medical records and keepsake boxes burned.

That does suck horribly. I keep that stuff written in a journal in a lockbox for fear of something like that, but there's always the risk of someone finding it. frown

Ouch blackeyed . I have been there many times, losing data sucks. The only thing I could recommend is that in the future keep a backup of your most sensitive data on a thumbdrive (you can keep it on your keychain or something).

Awhile back Az and I almost lost everything (photos, tax records, you name it) in a brownout, it cost me several hundred dollars to get everything restored.

It doesn't sound silly at all to me, it was an outlet for your deepest emotions. Maybe somehow it is for the best (I apologize for the lameness of that last bit, I am not a natural optimist).

I am a poor substitute, but I offer my ears and shoulders (albeit digitally) for you if you need them. Hugs and good thoughts back at ya' wink
