Today I'm going to Winnipeg. I don't really want to go but my mom is going through chemo for ovarian cancer so I better be there.
I hate Winnipeg. It's in the middle of nowhere, too many red necks, fruit & veggies are expensive & lacks ethnic diversity. It's nothing but strip malls, chain restaurants and big box stores. I could go on & on listing everything I despise.
It's a very blue collar - working class city. Most people there just get married, have kids & live a banal, suburban life until they die.
I feel like such a worldly person when I go back there. I escaped the trap and have explored life, ideas & the world.
When I go to Winnipeg I feel like I'm in another world, it's so different from the life I have made for myself on the west coast.
