Today I became an accidental baby-sitter, and it wasn't quite as bad as I thought it might be..
I woke up to my cousin (the one is despise) yelling at me through my open window. I was going to pretend I hadn't heard her until I heard my niece chanting the same charming phrase "ANSWER THE DOOR!" ((Bleh)) So I force myself out of bed at 213pm to let them in. Apparently, my niece went to a birthday party yesterday, and my cousin was going the distance to bringing each of the kids home. I actually found it in my heart to feel sorry for her. All the kids, including hers, were staying hours from each other, so she was in for far too much driving. If you ask me, she should have had a couple of parents come get them.
Because she had a fun day of driving in front of her, she had no time to wait at my place until my sister got off of work, so she left my niece with me. I didn't really mind, mostly because I was half asleep, and because now that she is four, she is a lot easier to deal with. I don't think I would despise baby-sitting so much if I could actually relate to the little ones. I am not one to use the stupid baby voices of pretend to be monsters and all. So, I gave her some juice, a snack, and let her tell me what she wanted to do. It was simple. We spent the next two hours putting together one of my old Little Mermaid puzzles, and watching Sleeping Beauty. It was rather amusing, actually. I do love that movie. Disney movies use to be so dark and scary, now they are all sunny and bright, even the scary scenes have a lot of color. I remember being scared out of my wits while watching the old Disney movies, especially Pinocchio. I still can't watch that one without getting the creeps.
It was nice spending time with the little tike, she is always so good when it is just the two of us. Whenever someone else hits the scene she turns into a complete monster.
Oh well, she is cute as hell and I love her.

i thought i was going to have to look after my brother's 2 kids the other day. his wife's mother died, so i did actually offer to take them off his hands for a while, but he had things under control. phew. i'll probably offer again this coming weekend though.
