WARNING! POLITICAL COMMENTARY! WARNING!
Well, here comes my half-baked commentary on the whole Iraq situation as it currently stands. Dont worry, its not gonna be the type of boring, verbose overly-intellectualized propaganda youre used to seeing on the Current Events board (I hope). Those who have followed my journal even casually know that I generally use it as a forum to talk about my...

You know, I didn't start out protesting the war, but I was anti-war. Since it all kicked off however, I feel myself agreeing with it because of everything you said up there ^^^ I do wish there were another way other than the war. And I also hate that Britain joined in - this years bugget alone has now seen a rise in our already extortionate taxes, and they claim it is due to increased spending in our health service. I for one believe that it's to cover the costs of going to war, but what can you do.

You're right about beating them to the punch as it were - I just wish I wasn't forced to be a part of killing frown

I dont feel like doing an update today. Heres some fucking brilliant lyrics for you instead:

LATE FOR THE SKY
The words had all been spoken
And somehow the feeling still wasn't right
And still we continued on through the night
Tracing our steps from the beginning
Until they vanished into the air
Trying to understand how our lives has led us there

Looking...

I seem to have possibly overstated the degree of my feelings yesterday. I certainly didnt intend for an outpouring of sympathetic cheer up happy face posts. I was just attempting to define my frame of reference for you all. Enough then with all that shit. Today is warm and the sky is blue. Thank goodness for small favors.

ah, yes, prurient....indeed.

well, be my guest--perhaps now that we know there's an audience, we'll plot some storylines......maybe other sg members can try and "break us up", and we can discover our evil twins hidden away in a closet, and then someone can get amnesia for a while.....and then---oh, wait, that was on All My Children. lol
mynka:
hmm...
i'd say that's probably a bad idea. but i'd do it anyway.
my question to you was: what do you do?

yeah, even though i've given up my big girl job, i still find it really hard to relax. it should happen gradually. i hope so at least.

your'e right, midwestern girls are just not like those L.A. ladies...

I sometimes feel like a profound sadness envelopes my life and is a like gauzy shroud that I view everything through. When I drive down PCH and look out over a beautiful blue ocean I feel sad. When I laugh and tell jokes I feel sad. When I buy myself just what I wanted I feel sad. When I get good news I feel...

On Selling Out
I have noticed a good deal of discussion lately on the boards revolving around the general concept of this Web site selling out. There seems to be a general feeling among some of the old skool members that the expansion of the site will have the effect of dumbing it down and creating a more vanilla environment that is different than...

I think selling out should only be applied to doing something specifically to make money or get more audience that the person doesn't themself believe is good.
Did you know Yo La Tengo made a Coke jingle? I sure as hell didn't. The story behind it is on their site, http://www.yolatengo.com/ and I think they went about the whole thing well. You can download the jingle too, as with Ween's proposed Pizza Hut jingle http://www.ween.com/
I respect these efforts because they didn't take a song about love, or something personal, and stick in on an ad; they wrote ad jingles, trying to infect the ad world with YoLaness and Weenness and I approve of that.

Every musician who goes outside of their bedroom to play WANTS to be heard. I have no problem with seeking popularity. *I* want to be popular. If I didn't want to be popular, I wouldn't pay to post on SG...

I suppose Im showing my age, but whatever happened to the days when people who worked in what we used to call record stores actually knew something about music? I went to a very trendy, sorta alternative music store yesterday and asked if they had the newly released DVD of the D.A. Pennebaker Ziggy Stardust film. First, the male clerk (all hipped out in...

Wow! good promise smile You're right about the record stores - heck we don't even get proper 'alternative' record stores over here. I order most my stuff online tongue

Ha! Record store clerks do suck nowadays. The closest I've come to competence is when I make a trip to Santa Cruz ... a lot of the record shops there are pretty egalitarian and know a little bit of everything.

'Course, if I were a clerk, I'm sure I'd piss all the new kids off: "sigh, why are you listening to this crap. Why don't you take home a copy of ... Appetite for Destruction?"

{edit} I was gonna do a whole new journal update today but I'm too tired and lazy, so fuck it. The minute that this becomes like a job is the minute I bail out. I spent the time to write the shit below, so I'm leaving it up a while longer. Who cares? I'm a few days into the album now and...
