MAKING LOVE WITH THE T.V. ON
A static buzz emitted
from the 3-D idiot box
inside my head
& the 4-cornered
one at our feet.
Self-conscious acting on
both sides of reality
blurs the lines
the jumping shadows
make on the curtains.
Pleasure & pity &
humor (both good
& bad) intermingle
with mixed results,
both there & here.
Holes in my socks &
in the plot expose
the shortcomings of the
fabric, the writers
& me, I suppose.
What's left (by now
all that matters) is the
last formality before
the final commercial
tells us it's over.
