ok, yes. i admit i blew off work for 3 hours this morning and went and saw it.
it was good. i had a few issues with it in terms of spending waaaay too long in Zion, but overall i liked it. i think its hard to live up to the hype.

i went and saw the first one with incredibly lowered expectations. it had such suckage potential. i mean the last sci-fi that keanu did was Johnny Mnemonic so the odds didnt look too good. but damn, i was really blown away by it. 20 minutes in and my mouth was agape.

that one really made me think about existence, perception and reality. i had also just seen Fight Club and American Beauty around the same time. all 3 worked on my psyche like no other films had previously. really shook me up. a fragile consciousness that was looking around after having been asleep. that film (in conjunction with the other 2) made me confront a lot of my own issues that i had pushed under the rug (dissatisfaction with work, sense of being, missed opportunities, etc.) made me think long and hard about what i wantedwhat i really wantedi dont think most people really knowbeen asleep too long. so easy to hit snooze...

what wakes you up? what jolts you out of the normalness of everyday life and makes you reflect on why youre here? what do you want? why are you here? answers only we can answer.

anything? anyone? Bueller.Bueller.Bueller.?

i think the "normalness" of everyday life wakes me up. my life is so bizarely routined right now that it allows me to see how close i am to the life i've always thought i wanted to lead. or maybe the routine has stunted the flow of intelligent thought through my brain. would i still want her if she were attainable? like the tootsie pop owl taught me, the world may never know...
