Granted I look over these boards sporadically...and people seem very supportive of the girls and the other members. But, my own experience has me portrayed by my looks a lot of the time versus who I am or what i choose to do with myself or my music.

Keep respecting your beautiful Suicide Girls as people, everyone...they are amazing, sweet, creative, spectacular women...in addition to from how they photograph themselves. But, I know you know that already. smile

I got to answer a very interesting interview question recently in regards to stuff such as this. I thought it might be appropriate to post the question and answer here.

(Please note I am not trying to offend or call anyone an asshole or anything in any way. I was indeed very flattered by the thread on this site and my own in regard to me becoming an SG....this is just something I've been dealing with a bit of recent.

The marriage proposals (sorry, I don't accept), the comments on my make-up (not insults on how much I'm wearing...it's stage make-up people!!!!) , the offers to bear my children = amusing. The comments about fucking me, the comments on my breast size, the requests to lick strangers balls = offensive. Your thoughts are very welcome b/c it is a very interesting and debatable issue...and I might assume that the SGs might have thoughts or comments on similar things.)

Q. So what's it like being a girl fronting a band of guys these days? Considering in the early years that women played a far more vocal and active role throughout all aspects of the Punk scene; do you feel it empowers you? Have you had a positive or negative experiences because of it? And what would you say to other women who may want to do what you're doing, but maybe a little unsure in this male dominated scene?

Interesting you should ask me that. Until recently, I would have said it probably wasn't too different for me to be fronting a band than for a guy. My band mates don't treat me any differently and neither does anyone I come in actual contact with. However, recently I've come across write ups, message board threads, and even posts on the Epoxies boards that seem to treat me more like a piece of meat than a human just trying to do something that I love. It is really quite disgusting to me to be discussed solely on my looks, my make-up, or my clothes. It's interesting b/c most people would never EVER say such things to my face, but are more than willing to say the most degrading things in text where anyone (including me) might randomly come across it. No, you can't sit on my face. I won't suck your balls. I wear too much make-up. I don't wear enough make-up. I'm not that cute. My boobs are too small..... It's all pretty neat-O that people feel they have the right to say that. There's not too much i can do about it. It's kind of a new thing, so I find it a little frustrating, but I'm learning to find humor in its ridiculousness.

All in all, I love what I'm doing. It's something very new for me and it has been very good for my self confidence. I admire others who get involved with anything that they are passionate about and encourage any girl/woman to get involved with anything they damn well please no matter what age they are and what they think their strengths or weaknesses may be. People can be cruel and they can be ridiculous (see above), but they can also be inspiring. It means so much to me when anyone comes up to me after a show and tells me that they love what I'm doing...and it means even more when I am told that I inspire them to try something new.

P.S. Everyone should check out a band from Portland called the Green Circles. Saw them for the first time on Thursday. Very very good.

Awww, thank you, Bliss. I'm just quoting what others have said....they've said that about my boobs too...but, quite honestly, I really like 'em b/c I can go without a bra and jog real easy and not end up with a back ache.
