I shouldn't be posting a new entry before responding to everyone from the last one. But I don't have time to do that right now, and some news to share.

For those interested... I will be having knee surgery. Probably THIS WEEK. *whimper*

My x-rays and MRI looked good. Structurally, my knee is in fine shape. But there's this weird hard little lump in my knee that was never there before. The doctor thinks it's a foreign object that has maybe been in there a really long time (maybe from my soccer days?)... but used to be located further up. He thinks that it's migrated down and is now causing irritation to my bursa (hence intense pain and swelling).

This seems a little weird to me. It kinda sounds like he's saying he has no fucking idea what's really going on. I mean, a foreign object that's been imbedded in my knee for years?? I was going to get a second opinion.

But I figure this guy is supposedly amazing... and there's definitely *something* fucked up with my knee. No matter what, I'm sure I need surgery. I might as well let him do it as pay for a second opinion and have that guy do it.

So he wants to go in and remove the "foreign object". He says we'll do the surgery as soon as my insurance approves it, he's pushing for this week. As in, the next four days. Jesus.

Good news: My knee is structurally sound.
Bad news: No nice, pretty, easy orthoscopic surgery. He's gotta completey open my knee up.

I'm scared.

I'm glad your knee is sound and I'm thinking good thoughts for your surgery is as quick and painless and successful as possible.

Sounds properly grisly, but taking care of it is clearly the right thing to do. I'm sure everything will go fine. smile
