Well, I got to test drive a 2010 Mustang GT today... I enjoyed it, BUT I gotta be honest... I expected more...

* The interior was 110% better looking & better fabricated then the previous model.. I would consider it a rather impressive looking interior! HOWEVER, they somehow managed to make the interior even more cramped then it was before!! WTF? My husband says that the dash has been moved forward so it makes sense why so much space was lost... It's such a large car - I can't understand why the inside isn't more roomy? It's horrible! I actually felt my claustraphobia kicking in when I was in the driver seat! Sheesh!!! I am only 5'4" and about 125lbs - that says something if I feel cramped! I can't even imagine how a larger person would feel.. Uck! The sales person actually hit his hand on the dash while talking - that's too cramped if you ask me!!

* The exterior is absolutely, positively, drop dead gorgeous!! The body lines are wonderful and it looks much more aggressive. Two thumbs up on the appearance!

* Performance wise, not much has changed. We drove the GT Premium model with the track package and everything so we definitely expected more. The steering was wwwaaayyyy too light, very little feedback. The shorter gears were nice, got into the power a bit faster. The handling has improved from the previous model, but really - the 2006 Honda Civic SI handled better --- so sad frown

All in all, it's a beautiful car... But ultimately - I couldn't own one because of how little room there is... To me, besides the light steering, that's it biggest killer. God Ford! You were SOOOO close!! DAMNIT!!!

Prior to this my husband took a test drive in a 2006 Honda Civic SI 2-door.. Man was I impressed! I didn't think Hondas (SI or not) could perform so well. It's was quick as hell and just stuck to the road like a fly on shit.. It was amazing. The steering response was super quick (faster then the Mustangs) and it out handled the Mustang as well. The inside was extremely roomy, especially in the 4 door - I swear you could have a party in the back seat! LOL..I am extremely impressed with the SI and so is my husband... In fact, he plans on buying one within the next few months -- that's how impressed he was. Honda = 1 Brownie Point! smile

God I hope the Camaro isn't as disappointing as the 2010 Mustang..... Otherwise my V8 world will shatter completely!! eeek

I am really waiting to see what you think about the Camaro. I have yet to see one in person, but the pics I saw were impressive. I am wanting to test drive the new Hyundai Genesis.

At the Mustang's very core it is still a msucle car. Muscle cars are made to do one thing, go fast, straight. It's the reason Ford decided to stick with the live axle instead of shoving in IRS (well, that and cost issues) because drag racers love to swap out rear ends gears. Hold the steering wheel straight, rev the gas and dump the clutch and you'll get pummeled into your seat with the force of an MMA fighter as the Mustang launches for the horzon. Honestly, the Mustang is not the car for you because of your love of turning corners. Sure you can toss in all the suspension mods you want to make it handle better but compared to a Civic Si on the twisties even with suspension mods you're going to be outclassed. For guys like me who only care about curves when they're on women the Mustang is the perfect choice. Don't expect the Camaro to knock your socks off either. The V-6 version probably will impress but the SS is just another muscle car and as such excels on the 1320 and not much else. Our beloved Challenger is roughly the same. It's the price of buying V-8 Americana.

I'm going to check out the new Hyndai Genesis Coupe sometime in a year or two. The four cylinder turbo model. We'll see how your Civic Si stacks up to that little beastie.
