I had a great time visiting WashingtonDC yesterday. I think everyone including the children had a good time. I really liked the FDR Memorial with it's Dakota Red Grantie rocks and moving water. I could have spent the whole day just sitting there reading all the quotes from FDR that are engraved in the stone.

Here's one I scribbled down on the back of the map I had:

"WE MUST SCRUPULOUSLY GUARD THE CIVIL RIGHTS AND CIVIL LIBERTIES FO ALL OUR CITIZENS, WHATEVER THEIR BACKGROUND(BELIEFS, FAITH). WE MUST REMEMBER THAT ANY OPPRESSSIONS, AND INJUSTICE, ANY HATRED, IS A WEDGE DESIGNED TO ATTACK OUR CIVILIZATION (DEMOCRACY).

How these words ring so true today. I think BUSH needs to spend a day there reading those inscriptions.

Got some great photos of the class and things we saw. We also went on a Merry Go Round on the outdoor mall. It was the longest ride I have ever been on. The operator got a phone call in the middle of the ride and went inside to take it and left us on the ride for a long time. I think we got 3 rides for free.

I also had a great time with my son. He really did good considering the trip lasted 16 hours total. He loved the dinosaurs and when I took off my shirt to put lotion on my tattoo. He couldn't believe I had taken it off in the middle of a food court. Then he started asking other students if they wanted to see my tattoo. I didn't think this was such a good idea. Some perants would have called the school and complained about it.

Guess I go and start painting the porch of the rehab house. My legs are killing me from waling all day yesterday.
