I realize I have not updated in a very long time. Life has been busy. I have been working on my thesis like a mad person. I was so nervous about my presentation and didn't really sleep for 3 days before it. However when I finally presented it went fairly smoothly. My professors, some grad students and judges decided to try and tool me on the questions section to see how much I knew about my research and I ROCKED every single question. It felt so good and at the end of the night I won 2 awards; one for best presentation in my group and another for being in the top 10% of my class. I am not trying to be a braggart or anything, but I have had a really rough year and I thought I had totally fucked myself over/ was failing at life, so this was much needed reassurance. Im so lamesauce, I called my mom and cried. It was just a really really fun night for me.

After all my thesis biz and a free supper on my proffs I headed out for a beer with some friends. One of my roomate's friends was out from BC and was looking awfully cute in a brand new mohawk. He had come to see my presentation early that afternoon as my roomie Kari came for support and had just picked him up from the airport (He did not help with my nerves at all!). I was able to hang out with everyone and play pool and not worry about school, which was the first time in weeks, and it felt soooo good.

The next night we had a big party for a friend's Bday. He is a Saskatchewan farm boy so we had a green and yellow theme (John Deer). We had giant green and yellow candles lighting the walk and our living room looked like the John Deer prom with balloons and streamers. I even wore a green colonder (sp?) as a hat as I couldn't find an actual hat. It was a good night for me as again it was completely unrelated to school and I just happened to wake up to a mohawked guitar god in my bed that stayed there for the rest of the week (I even found him a seat sale and made him switch his flight home so he could stay later).

Now for some gushing. I am allowing you to skip this, but I need to get it out so....

For sake of ease we will call this boy Cloth as it is his endearing nickname around my house. Cloth is a well read, semi-shy yet very witty, intelliigent, amazingly talented boy who not only came to my thesis presentation but understood most of it and proved it in a very drunken conversation after. The frist time we met we started talking about Hendrix and he asked if I had ever heard of the "Live at Filmore East" album, which is the first Hendrix album I ever owned when I was 13ish and definately holds a place in my heart. We then got into an in depth conversation about how song 3 on disc 2, "Changes", was our favorite song because Hendrix didn't sing (he is vocally tone deaf and never should have been forced to sing..it was a marketablility thing I have heard).

He then continued to impress me this time when we started talking about George Orwell and he saw half of the cover art of a book on my shelf and correctly guessed that it was Clive Barker's "Weaveworld". His dad owns a books store and him reading Tolkein aloud with him when he was 4 or 5.

Anyway I had a fantastic week with a very cute boy to snuggle at nights and talk to during the day. It is unfortunate as his life is in Victoria and mine is here so despite an amazing connection we said goodbye and parted ways.

So now I am back at homework after a very unproductive week... which is fine because i am having trouble sleeping in my empty bed right now anyways.

Lub dub to all
Rose
