As I sit here watching the live feed of the World Series of Poker, I realize the love I have for the game. The last few months have been interesting. I went to Reno with a couple of friends to play in poker tournaments that were running. Over the course of the weekend, I played in 3 tournaments and 2 sit n go's.

The Friday I played in a 154 person tourney. It was the first real tourney I had ever played in. I didn't make the money as I busted out around 30th and they paid 18 places. I got my cards in with the better hand but my AQ lost to A10 when a 10 came on the river. Even though I didn't make the money I felt I played well and I was pleased with my first tournament. On SaturdayI got to heads up in the tournements and chopped to bring in $550 dollars along with $35 in bounty chips for knocking 7 people out. This was a nice cash on my $50 dollar investment and helped take away the sting from not cashing the night before. I played a small tourney on Sunday morning and I ended up busting out on the bubble. All in all it was a fun weekend. I made some money to build the bank roll. I also made a bit of cash busitng up sng's with my friends.

I got busy with work when I got back so I never had a chance to play in another tournament. There was the home games at Lou's and the Cigar shop poker on Sunday nights all of which I usually do well in and turn a profit.

Recently a friend from the cigar shop when to play in vegas during the WSOP. While there he won a satellite for a seat into the $10000 main event. He placed around 900 out of 6300 about 300 away from the money but very good for his first try. He built up a great stack but took two bad beats on the second day to bust out. It was very exciting trying to follow how he was doing while he was playing. The excitement from following him definately put the itch to play tournaments again into my system.

This Monday I played in the $100 turbo tournament at Bay 101. I was card dead early on and got down in chips but I got a couple hand around the middle of the tourney and was able to chip up and run well. I made the final table and busted out in 8th place for a cash of $310. It was a good feeling to build the bank roll some more and know that I can cash on a consistent basis in tournaments. I definately hope to play in a few more in the months to come and start moving up in buy in levels as my bankroll grows.

Ultimately I hope to play in some of the sub events in the WSOP within the next 2 or 3 years and maybe I will get my shot at the main event.
