I am so bad at making small talk I will go out of my way to avoid people I know. This sounds really bad, but I am the definition of socially awkward. Am I the only person that does this? I'm not mean, I just get so nervous and never know what'll come out of my mouth.

I'm so awkward but in some retarded reverse way. I try to suppress the anxiety and make effort but then always end up saying the wrong thing and making terrible first impressions, THEN I chicken out and avoid people haha

I can totally relate. I hate small talk. It's usually no offense to the person I'm having it with, it's just that it bores the living piss outta me. I'd much rather have an in-depth philosophical discussion or hear about some out of the ordinary thing that happened to them. Small talk is exactly that: small. Have LARGE conversations. Lol.
