I feel horrible for not updating in so long.

Love yourself first. Don't worry about the relationship stuff, that comes naturally. No need to force it eh?, Besides, I've never heard of a healthy relationship where both parties didn't totally respect, love, and care for themselves. Once you have that no one can abuse you, and you have a chance for real love with the other person! I think your alone time sounds healthy!
