The first machine I ever used in a gym was the treadmill. It freakin sucked. I was exhausted and crampy after 15 minutes at 5.2 mph. mad And at this point I was already in pretty good shape... I mean, I'd been roller blading every day before that, then it got cold and I resorted to indoor activities.
Anyway, I moved on to other machines, and sometimes classes... until this weekend. I did 25 mins on Mr. Evil Treadmill, at 6.0 mph, and that was *after* 30 mins going all out on the elliptical.

OOHH WHO WINS NOW?! ARRR!!!

Ok, ok, so 55 minutes of intense exercise is a little more than I could do on most days. But I still win. Muah.

I'm starting to realize that I've got some kind of love-hate thing with technology. On the one hand, I think we rely too much on it. I mean, if the electricity went out for a few weeks - we'd be screwed (especiallt here in Canada). We've gotten to the point where we barely even need to leave the house to function from day to day. Without computers, cars, machines, we're helpless. We can't even acquire food. And that's fucked up, is what that is.
Not that I think technology is a bad thing... we just need to not RELY on it so much. (I don't exclude myself here at all... without my computer, I'm lost!)

... and on the other hand, I'm fascinated by technology.. enough to have I've chosen it as my career. But, I really doubt I'd be willing to work on a project that I felt would make this dependency worse. Hmm, I suppose this limits my future employment options somewhat. wink

Oh, oh yea and that miso soup incident - I escaped unscathed. biggrin

Technology....Hmmmmm....it is quite amazing that we all have become so dependant upon the "modern" wonders...it is a pity that souls do not close their eyes and use the most wonderful technology of all...oh well...at least the soup wounds have healed. smile

I completely agree with everything you say about technology. I love it and hate it at the same time. It totally rules our life, but at the same time makes it easier to live. I think society is just getting lazy as the years go by. I hope I don't fall into that rut... or perhaps I already have.... damn, that's sobering.
