I wanted to make a special message to all my readers from Ukraine. It seems most of the likes I get in my blogs are from lovely people from the Ukraine. As a silly American, I don't know much about the Ukraine. I know Kiev was a vital trading city between folks of the North and Byzantium and Persia. That the Kievan-Rus was a rather successful kingdom that set up the foundation of Ukraine. Then the Mongols and the Tartars came in. They settled around Crimea. There was the Crimean Khanate that occupied a lot of the land of modern day Ukraine. A long time later Ukraine is occupied by Russian Empire and then the Soviet Union. The Soviet Union deported a lot of Tartars from Ukraine, and a lot of Tartars died in the migration. Some more time later becomes independent in 1991. In 2014 there was revolution of the pro-Russia government.
And that is all I know off the top of my head, but that is mostly dry history stuff. So to all my Ukraine readers, tell me something I should know about Ukraine, whether that be food, culture, language or something I got wrong above. I be really surprised if what I said above was completely correct, my memory is not that good.
